Dan Fogler, narrator of this new behind-the-scenes audio documentary, talks us through some of his favourite moments filming the second Fantastic Beasts film, as both the film and a new audiobook from Pottermore Publishing are released.
Dan Fogler, who plays Jacob Kowalski in the Fantastic Beasts films, has very kindly lent his lovely voice to this rather enchanting new audiobook Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald – Makers, Mysteries and Magic, that digs deep into the making of the second film, such as creating 1927 Paris, new character developments, designing new costumes, making new props, going back to Hogwarts – and every other speck of magic that goes into bringing J.K. Rowling’s imagination to life.
Here he is talking about some of the fun he had behind the scenes – including improvising some of Jacob’s lines in the new film. (Psst – if you want to know absolutely nothing about said film, beware of mild spoilers…)
The new audiobook features over five hours of narration and interviews, drawn from over 100 hours of footage from behind the scenes of the movie. Listeners can discover what influenced the design of the Elder Wand, meet the people who built iconic wizarding world locations including Hogwarts’ Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom and get the low-down on what it means to play a character in the wizarding world from actors including Eddie Redmayne (Newt Scamander), Jude Law (Albus Dumbledore), Katherine Waterston (Tina Goldstein), and Alison Sudol (Queenie Goldstein).
But enough from us… here’s what Dan has to say about Makers, Mysteries and Magic.
The audiobook, created by Pottermore Publishing and Audible Originals, is available to buy in the UK and the US. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is also out.
