Pottermore Publishing celebrates most successful Back to Hogwarts campaign to date.
Every year on 1st September, we mark our calendars for the new school term at Hogwarts and celebrate Back to Hogwarts alongside the wider franchise, our retail and library partners and, of course, our fans. This year, celebrations for the all-important moment kicked off earlier than ever before, starting on 31st July.
We certainly had a lot of fun commemorating the moment alongside our partners, who featured our wonderful marketing toolkit which puts Harry and Ron and their fateful journey back to Hogwarts in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets at the forefront of the campaign. With 8 partners involved across 27 markets, 2024 has become our biggest and best Back to Hogwarts yet!
From London to São Paulo, we worked with our partners to support the return to Hogwarts across various social channels, in-app activations and even through influencer and out of home campaigns. Fans in Amsterdam and Rotterdam might have spotted some wizarding world magic on their inner-city buses, whilst over in Italy, we featured on flyers given out at an in-person activation at the Galleria Alberto Sordi in Rome! Whether readers and listeners were encouraged to dive back into the stories through push notifications or dedicated app store events, we are so grateful for a wonderful month of activity across all corners of the world.
Of course, the campaign wouldn’t have been the same without a few start of term announcements from the franchise. On 1st September, the annual Back to Hogwarts showcase was hosted on the official Harry Potter™ YouTube channel announcing some magical upcoming projects. Our audiobook launch on the Yoto platform secured a spot in the showcase stream, as did our latest publication From the Wizarding Archive, released just in time for 1st September, and promoted by the wonderful Evanna Lynch.
