Pottermore Publishing and Audible Announce New Full-Cast Editions of the Harry Potter Audiobooks
Dive deeper into the making of the 20-second announcement video, that gives fans a flavour of what’s to come.
On 25th April we announced, in co-production with Audible, that new, English language recordings of the original Harry Potter stories by J.K. Rowling will be available from late 2025. These editions will be rendered using Dolby Atmos technology, feature a full cast of more than 100 voices performing the 500+ roles and include newly recorded, bespoke music and extensive sound design. They will sit alongside the iconic and beloved single-voice narrations by Stephen Fry and Jim Dale, giving fans the option to hear the magic in a number of different ways.
This audio production is a global first for Pottermore and we wanted to create an announcement video that matches the scale of our excitement for the project.
Look closely and you should be able to spot Easter eggs throughout the video, from Harry’s broken glasses to Hagrid’s iconic pink umbrella. Whilst all subtle nods to the beloved stories, nothing that appears in the video should be amiss in a recording studio … especially the sherbet lemons!
The video showcases just how immersive this audio offering will be. You will hear a variety of voices reading quotes taken directly from the books, accompanied by magical sound design that includes some well-known sounds from the wizarding world. The video ends with a line from Hagrid, ‘Yeh’ll have a great time at Hogwarts’, that evokes not only an atmosphere of excitement but the feeling that listeners are about to experience Hogwarts either for the first time or in a completely new, immersive, and dynamic way.
