To mark the release of the ground-breaking console game, Pottermore collaborated with WB Games to demonstrate the canonical accuracy of Hogwarts Legacy.
Hogwarts Legacy launched on 10th February 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC, finally giving Wizarding WorldTM fans the chance to put themselves into the shoes of a Hogwarts student in the 1800s. The game sold over 12 million units in its first two weeks post-launch and continues to be a ground-breaking, global success. With appetite for Hogwarts Legacy so high, consumers are also delving back into the stories that started it all, listening and reading to the Harry Potter series from the very beginning.
As part of the launch moment, Pottermore Publishing worked with the developers of Hogwarts Legacy on a short series of spellbinding videos, giving fans a treat by pairing in-game visuals of magical locations from the stories with corresponding excerpts from the audiobooks. The result is an incredible demonstration of the skill and accuracy at play in recreating J.K. Rowling’s detailed descriptions pixel by pixel.
We hope all fans will agree that the game developers have achieved an amazing level of canonical accuracy with no detail being spared, from the candle-filled chandelier to the extravagant one-hundred gold taps. More videos in the series are set to be released in coming weeks to show just how accurate Hogwarts Legacy’s castle is to the books’ text.
Hogwarts Legacy is set to release on additional consoles from 5th May 2023 and we can’t wait to see more fans delving deeper into the Wizarding World through the game and by revisiting the stories that have inspired it.
